New Forest Wealth Management was delighted to host the fourth annual golf day at Hamptworth Golf and Country Club on Friday 7th June 2019.
Despite the dark clouds, angry sky and torrential rain, all 70 participants (a record field) turned up raring to go at 9am. Given the weather, Adam Johnson wisely changed the running order; Dan Looney, Wealth Management Consultant, from St. James's Place Wealth Management, delivered an interesting and topical presentation on the current state of the financial markets. As he finished, Adam confidently predicted blue skies and sunshine within the hour; his optimism was not shared by the majority of players!
In truth, the course was virtually unplayable as the rain continued to fall. However, at the appointed time, after about 4 holes, the weather improved dramatically, and fine conditions were enjoyed for the rest of the round.
The puddles disappeared from the greens and the general mood improved. It is always important to remember that playing golf, even in the rain, is a welcome distraction from work!
Scoring was surprisingly high; five players achieving 40 points or more, with Fred Rowland’s winning score of 44 being an event record. The winning team score of 146 was also a record, with all four players making big contributions. Four ladies competed and Paula Haywood’s excellent winning score of 40 points was equal fourth overall. More ladies required and welcome for next year! Eight players managed to “beat the beast”, the unique 16th hole, par 6, at 666 yards. Allegedly, Mark Boreham reached the heart of the green using a Driver, 7 iron and wedge! We were also delighted to have four of our own advisers in the field, including our latest recruit Paul Johnson. Who knows how many more will play next year!

Adam Johnson, Director of New Forest Wealth Management, says; ‘It was a pleasure to share a thoroughly enjoyable day with so many clients and their guests. Dan Looney’s briefing on the investment markets, Neil Woodford’s challenges and why the St. James's Place investment management approach helped protect our clients was especially timely. Despite inclement weather conditions, the course was once again in superb condition and proved an entertaining challenge. Many thanks to all of those that attended for making it such an enjoyable day, especially those that brought invited guests. Thanks again to Michael Mulligan and his team at Hamptworth for being such superb and accommodating hosts. On behalf of myself and the team at New Forest Wealth Management; thank you all and we look forward to welcoming you again next year.’
